Initial thoughts on the new Playstation 5 controller!

Playstation 5 Controller - New Details Revealed - Animated Apparel Company

For those of you who may not have heard, Sony has released images and juicy details about their new controller which will accompany the highly anticipated Playstation 5. The initial controller design seems to have some Playstation fans worried that the controller is too similar to the Xbox controller, but after reading all of the details from Sony this controller is going to have some great features which will separate it from its competitors. Sony has been known to put the gamers at the forefront of their design whether it be in their console or in the games they make, and we are sure the new controller is no different.

So sit back and relax as we go over some of the neat things your new controller will be able to do.

A Focus on  Immersion

The focus of this console generation is immersion. From Sony’s initial announcement, they don’t want the controller to be a distraction. They’ve tested the design with gamers, and have taken in their feedback and this is what lead to the initial design. One thing we immediately see with this controller is the slightly altered shape from the current controller. Sony has tested this design on a variety of different hand sizes and they’ve also worked to make the controller as lightweight as possible which I am excited about.

One other cool feature I’ve personally wanted for a while is the ability to chat from the controller. Sony states this is not intended to replace your headset, but this is a nice feature to add if you just need to let your friends know you’re almost ready to start gaming.

The new controller also incorporates adaptive triggers to both the L2 and R2 buttons, this is really supposed to aid in the feeling you get when you play racing games or in an RPG when you draw a bow. I’m excited to see how this affects my all-time favorite genre, FPS titles. Expect a full review of this feature when we get our hands on this new controller.

The Create Button

The new controller will also have a Create button instead of the Share button. They’ve advised us in their blog posts that the Share button is not going away, but is instead being replaced by the Create button. I’m excited to know more about this feature, and how this will allow gamers to share clips with their friends. We will do our best to keep you updated here on our blog as we learn more about these new features.

As a diehard Xbox fanboy, I am really excited about this new console generation. So far Xbox hasn’t released any new information about their controller, and personally I’ve loved Xbox’s controller more but this new PS5 controller is really giving Microsoft a run for their money. Sony’s focus on comfort and gameplay immersion are things that really sing to the heart of many gamers, and we are sure this controller will be a big hit. We will do our best to keep you updated here on our blog when we are able to get our hands on this controller.

Now it’s time to hear your thoughts. What do you think of the new controller? Love it or hate it, feel free to let us know in the comments section below.
